Commercial Lighting at Porsche Service Centre Artarmon

The automotive workshop presented the most demanding commercial lighting requirement of the project. Long runs of suspended MAXI lighting extend throughout the service bays, creating a bright working environment across the large open space.

For technicians carrying out detailed mechanical work, visibility is particularly important. Components, tools and small fittings need to remain clearly visible while work is being completed, while the floor also needs to be well illuminated as vehicles are driven between service bays. Small screws, fasteners and other fittings can otherwise be difficult to identify and may be missed or driven over.

The arrangement of the linear lighting follows the layout of the workshop, with multiple suspended runs providing illumination across workstations, vehicle lifts and circulation areas. Against the exposed services and open ceiling, the fittings also reinforce the organised, functional character of the workshop.

While the workshop prioritises visibility, the showroom uses the same MAXI system in a more architectural way. Large rectangular linear pendant lighting configurations are suspended above the display areas, creating strong geometric features within the predominantly white interior.

The clean lines of the pendants complement the layout of the showroom while their illuminated forms are reflected across the surfaces of the vehicles below. Additional track and recessed lighting works alongside the MAXI pendants, allowing the linear fittings to become a prominent part of the showroom design without being the only source of illumination.

Using MAXI in this way highlights the flexibility of a customisable linear lighting system. Rather than simply repeating the long suspended runs used in the workshop, the fittings have been configured into forms that respond to the presentation-focused showroom environment.

At the entrance to the Porsche Service Centre, MAXI takes on another configuration. Here, recessed linear lighting has been integrated into the ceiling, creating continuous illuminated lines that extend across the entry area.

Unlike the suspended installations inside the showroom and workshop, the recessed application sits directly within the architecture of the space. The result is a cleaner, more understated approach suited to the transition between the exterior and interior of the building.

Using MAXI in both recessed and suspended configurations creates continuity between the entrance, showroom and service areas while allowing the installation to respond to each space.

Across the Porsche Service Centre Artarmon, MAXI has been adapted to suit three distinct commercial lighting applications — from bright workshop illumination to architectural showroom pendants and integrated recessed lighting at the entrance.

The project highlights the flexibility of custom linear lighting within a commercial environment, where the requirements can change considerably from one area to the next. Rather than applying the same configuration throughout the facility, MAXI has been tailored to the purpose, layout and character of each space.
