At Anytime Fitness, LED strip lighting has been integrated throughout the gym to create a distinctive lighting design that works alongside the architecture of the space. Suspended geometric ceiling features, illuminated wall details, defined training zones and warm-lit joinery demonstrate several different approaches to linear lighting within the one commercial project.
Rather than relying on a single application, the installation shows how LED strip can shift between bold feature lighting and subtle architectural illumination depending on where and how it is incorporated.
One of the most prominent features of the project is the series of large rectangular lighting structures suspended above the training areas. LED strip lighting follows the perimeter of each frame, creating strong geometric lines across the ceiling and drawing attention through the open-plan gym.
The purple illumination gives these structures an even greater visual presence. Light extends beyond the fittings themselves, introducing colour across the floor, equipment and surrounding surfaces. Against the darker ceiling and exposed services, the illuminated frames become a defining architectural feature of the training environment.
The photographs also show how the lighting works alongside more conventional track lighting rather than attempting to replace it. This allows the linear lighting to contribute to the atmosphere and visual identity of the gym while other fittings provide targeted illumination where required.
The ceiling isn’t the only place where linear lighting has been incorporated. Elsewhere in the facility, LED strip is used to emphasise walls, floors and other architectural elements.
Diagonal illuminated lines run through timber wall panels, turning what could otherwise be a simple surface into a feature of the interior. In another training area, a continuous warm-white line follows the perimeter at floor level, visually separating the workout zone from the surrounding circulation space.
A different approach can be seen in the timber shelving area, where warm LED strip lighting has been integrated into the joinery. Instead of the vivid purple used throughout the main training areas, the warmer light highlights the timber finish and provides illumination within the individual compartments.
These applications demonstrate how positioning can significantly change the effect of linear lighting. Suspended overhead, it becomes a prominent feature. Integrated into a wall, it highlights form and material. Positioned at floor level, it can help define the boundaries of a space without introducing additional physical barriers.
The contrast between training areas and rest areas is an important part of the project. The training spaces use colour and large geometric forms to create visual impact, while the joinery lighting is considerably more understated. Both use linear lighting, but the resulting effect is determined by its colour, position and relationship with the surrounding materials.
Across the Anytime Fitness installation, these different applications demonstrate how LED strip can contribute to both architectural design and practical illumination without every area needing to use the product in exactly the same way.
